I have extensive professional experience evaluating various waste disposal options and impacts. My goal will be to ensure that Metro makes the best use of available new technologies to improve recycling, particularly for plastics. Metro should look into public/private partnerships to develop markets for reuse and recycling of waste products, include food and fiber waste streams. Metro needs to renew emphasis on reduction and sustainability and should plan for more recycling centers.
